Associate Dean, MBA Program
Hi – I’m Dave Hofmann the associate dean of the full-time MBA Program. I am also significantly involved in the Leadership Initiative and a professor of organizational behavior. I taught the core MBA leadership course for six years before assuming my new role of associate dean on July 1, 2008. My research focuses on leadership and organizational climate/culture typically in high risk environments.
I was born in Florida and grew up in Kansas and Tennessee. I have an undergraduate degree from Furman University – a small liberal arts college not too far down the road from Chapel Hill in Greenville, SC. I received my Ph.D. from Penn State and still count myself a Nittany Lions fan (particularly during football season!). I have worked in human resources consulting and held a number of academic positions. During the early part of my academic career I transitioned from graduate school at Penn State to Purdue University to Texas A&M to Michigan State, and then finally to UNC Kenan-Flagler. Despite my track record of moving around, my family and I have been glad to call Chapel Hill home since 2001 and love it here. My wife Jenifer and I have a daughter, Anna, who is 8. I enjoy spending time with them, and I’ve been known to exercise a bit and for the last 4 years I’ve participated in one (short) triathlon a year. Jenifer and I are already registered for this year – come on out and join me.
